Ms. Irene Chau, Standing Committee Member


After finishing her studies in Australia, Ms. Chau kick-started her career in Hong Kong and had become part of the management team at theInternational Management Group (IMG). She later moved on to work for a number of charitable organizations, such as Greenpeace and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Currently, the Greater China Executive Director of Operation Smile and the Project Director of Sheen Hok Charitable Foundation, Ms. Chau has been driving numerous initiatives on environmental protection, healthcare andanti-poverty programs globally.


Under her outstanding leadership, Operation Smile is currently working with 150 hospitals throughout China to offer voluntary medical services; to date, over 30,000 children suffering from cleft lip and palate have been cured through the Project, bringing the brightest smiles and instilling hopes into their future. In Hong Kong, she has also facilitated the launch of Sheen Hok Rising Sun Project in 2019; comprising a team of experienced medical professionals, the Project aims to provide a wide range of support to children with special educational needs as well as their families so that their lives would be on the right track and purpose-driven.


Ms. Chau strongly believes that every child, regardless of their background, deserves to be cherished and equally treated; ensuring all children having timely access to appropriate treatments is the utmost motivation behind her worldwide efforts in organizing volunteer medical consultations.
